Fine Art Photographer & Digital Artist
Even as a child Marjorie was fascinated with photography. She saved Bazooka gum wrappers and sent away for her first film camera at about 8 years old. Marjorie’s Father (a photographer) was an important supporter and guide in her early photographic work. Marjorie was fortunate to work at Hewlett Packard’s San Diego R&D facility as the first digital cameras and inkjet photo printers were being developed. Somewhere around 1994 she started using digital cameras and eventually transitioned away from film use. Marjorie also had the honor of working for Eastman Kodak’s San Diego R&D facility in Rancho Bernardo (large format fine art printers and desktop photo printers).
Marjorie has always had an artistic and intuitive way of interpreting the world, and her photography work is seen through these same intuitive eyes. Though she is a “techie”, she tends to be less interested in the technical aspects of the equipment and more interested in creating the pieces she sees in her mind. Marjorie definitely likes to be “hands on” and is a strong believer in owning the creative process from capturing, to printing and on through to framing. “At Brewer Photography & Art we enjoy owning the creative process from start to finish,” she explains. She enjoys mixing medias, creating textures on her images, and exploring the printing of images on specialized papers and surfaces. She developed a technique that is uniquely her own process for transferring digital inkjet images onto watercolor paper.
Marjorie is a San Diego native born and raised. She loves to travel with her photographer husband Ron. Photography road trips (with all her camera equipment) are her favorite type of travel. Marjorie has a background in traditional fine arts and a degree in computer science with a graphic arts emphasis. She continues to take a variety of classes that are of interest – mostly to keep up with software advances. The quickly moving world of digital art is exciting to Marjorie. She feels this current digital environment allows contemporary artists boundless creative opportunities.
